Hungry before or after your Queen City Ghostwalk? Here’s a list of our favorite BURLINGTON restaurants
Istanbul Kebab House - 175 Church Street, offers authentic Turkish fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Burlington’s only rooftop dining. Zucchini Fritter, Kebab or Stuffed Grape Leaves, you can’t go wrong here. For breakfast, grab the Sucuk & Egg Sandwich or Mediterranean Breakfast Plate.
Hong’s Dumplings - 77 Pearl Street, started with a food cart on Church Street 18 year’s ago with lines a block long. Now, Mrs. Hong is cooking up deliciousness in her permanent location. Try Giant Steamed Bao, Scallion Pancake, and her famed Pork, Veggie, Crab Cream Cheese, or Chicken & Cheese dumplings.
Trattoria Delia - 152 St. Paul Street, is rustic yet upscale Italian food made with fresh seasonal ingredients. Try their Lasagna, with house-made pasta, veal, beef, pork, Pomodoro and béchamel, or Brasato di Manzo- slow braised beef short rib, with wine from their extensive selection.
The Swingin' Pinwheel Cafe and Bakery - 11 Center Street, is one of our favorite breakfast finds in the world. (Check out their all day menu for salad, chili and more.) Let’s just say they had us at “Pigs In A Pancake”. So yummy, we truly can’t do them justice here. Quick! Head to the website:
Hen of The Wood - 55 Cherry Street, offers next-level dining, with a James Beard Award winning chef, local ingredients, and an atmosphere that puts the food center stage. The menu changes daily. It’s like a merry-go-round for your mouth.
Pho Hong. 325 North Winooski Avenue, was a little off the beaten path, but it didn’t take long for diners to beat a path to their door. Seafood Special? It’s a party on your palate. Panang Curry? We wanted to lick the bowl. The place is BYOB, so carry in your favorite beer or wine.
Pizza 44 - 703 Pine Street, is one of our top neighborhood hangouts. The air is perfumed with the heady aroma of that SAUCE. There’s lovingly crafted pizza, tender meatballs, locally sourced salad greens, and we’ve never met a friendlier staff. Tasty beer on tap completes the sense of nirvana. Let it be your home away from home.
